'We are soo happy to have found Anja and Sadie to support and guide us on the journey to and on the most important day of our lives.  During the pregnancy they had made us feel like old time friends.  The friendly openness is essential to something as intimate and life altering as childbirth.  The knowledge and ongoing recommendations of books and videos were spot on.  We both had many questions as we have never known of anyone having a homebirth and they provided us with just the information we needed to know we could have a safe labor in the comforts of our home.  We had gained soo much knowledge from Anja and Sadie along with the recommended reading, we had other friends asking us questions.  It felt great to be soo educated as you will have some people who question your choices.  Their casual yet professional manner was exactly what we wanted, they would come over for tea and we would have plenty of one on one time to ask any questions that have risen since the last check up and then they would finish with exams.  The overall labor was difficult but soo empowering.  They were there when we needed someone to be soft-spoken, encouraging and they were there with a very clear message when we needed direction.  They gave us space when we needed to gather strength from each other.  Our son was born natural at home in the water and we could not have done it without them.  He was very calm after birth and didn’t cry at all.  It was the absolute perfect combination to make our birth the absolute most perfect birth.

'Building up a relationship with our midwife was a very key factor in deciding to go with Sunrise Birthing. We were not disappointed, and found the number and length of visits perfect. The information and lending of books ets was always very helpful and it was very reassuring to have Anja at the other end of the phone. We particularly liked that the meetings were never rushed and always relaxed.
At the beginning stages of active labour, we liked how Anja let us concentrate on what we had learnt at hypnobirthing classes, but when we needed her help she provided expertise and reassurance.

'We chose Anja to be the midwife for our fourth child because the idea of the same person visiting our home for all appointments was very appealing and made life much easier.
In reality Anja does far more than this. I became pregnant shortly after losing my father - with three children to look after, together with my own grief and my mother's, being pregnant was just another thing to cope with. Anja empathised while gently bringing my focus back to myself and my pregnancy. She has a warm, comforting presence and is able to bring gentle humour to her work without ever leaving one in any doubt that she takes it extremely seriously. She also has a rare ability to be direct without being offensive or judgmental.
I was particularly impressed with the way she involved our children as much as they wanted to be involved - they quickly took to her and she was able to relate to each of them individually.
I also felt that my husband trusted her and was confident in her ability - this was an importnant weight off my mind when it came to labour.
Funnily enough it almost seems as if the labour was the time I needed Anja the least - she and Louise ( another gem) placed themselves in the background: I knew that they were monitoring the situation closely and I felt quite safe to be able to take charge of what I was doing and bring the baby to the surface of the pool myself.
Following the birth again, Anja did far more than tend to the physical needs of our baby and me - she was a good listener and made those emotional highs and lows feel quite normal. I feel that we have gained a friend through this wonderful experience which she helped to enrich.'
